Stein Eriksen Lodge Embarks on $7 Million Renovation

Stein Eriksen Lodge Embarks on $7 Million Renovation: Dining and lobby areas remodeled and expanded to further enhance luxurious guest experience

Park City, UT (PRWEB) May 26, 2006 -- Stein Eriksen Lodge, the AAA Five Diamond resort in Park City, Utah, is taking mountain luxury to new heights with $7 million in renovations that will enhance the overall guest experience. The ongoing project includes the expansion of the dining and lounge facilities, additional accommodations, and a complete renovation of the main lobby. The leader in alpine hospitality, the Lodge planned this remodel to further its goal to continuously exceed guest expectations and provide the ultimate year-round luxury destination.

Financed by Zions Bank, the renovation will increase the Lodge’s ability to provide both leisure and business guests world-class service and amenities in a luxurious and comfortable setting. The enhancements will create a more contemporary and elegant atmosphere, with high-end finishes and custom elements that will retain a Norwegian feel, keeping with the heritage of the Lodges namesake, Stein Eriksen.

The remodel of the dining facilities includes the expansion of the Glitretind restaurant, one of a handful of places to win a Santé Restaurant award, to a total of 4,760-square-feet. The Troll Hallen Lounge will dramatically transform and more than double in size to 1,230-square feet, providing an exciting, upscale atmosphere that will become the premier venue for après ski and scenic deck-dining. The renewed and expanded lobby will be completely redecorated and feature a grand staircase, new elevator, and detailed woodwork that will reflect Stein Eriksen’s heritage.

In the spring of 2007, Lodge guests will be able to enjoy the crème-de-la-crème in accommodations with the addition of four junior suites. The 850-square-foot suites will feature a beautifully decorated and spacious living area with a fireplace and wet bar, and master bedroom with private bath. Guests who reserve these suites will look forward to enjoying magnificent views of Flagstaff Mountain while relaxing in a hot tub on their private deck.

“We hope that the improvements to our world-class amenities and enhancement of the unique Norwegian decor will greatly enrich our guest’s experience,” said Russ Olsen, vice president and managing director at Stein Eriksen Lodge. “It is our top priority to maintain the highest level of service and luxury for our guests during the renovation. To ensure this, we have developed a strategic plan and construction schedule to minimize any interference with the guest experience.”

The Lodge will remain open as it undergoes the majority of its transformation this summer, and is dedicated to preserving the guests’ daily luxury experience. The projected renovation schedule is as follows:

- Glitretind restaurant completed and will open June 5, 2006

- Troll Hallen Lounge completed and will open July 1, 2006

- Lobby expansion completed in October 2006

- Junior suites construction complete and available for rental in March 2007

Stein Eriksen Lodge has assembled a talented team of local architects, designers and builders to facilitate the renovation, including Alan Poulson of WPA Architecture, interior designers Rick Jedrziweiski and Vivian Miller of Miller & Jedrziewski and Layton Construction.

The WPA Architecture team will manage the physical and structural renovations to the Lodge. The firm has a long-standing relationship with the property and previously worked with the Lodge to facilitate a $40 million expansion in 2002. “It is a privilege to work with Stein Eriksen Lodge,” said Alan Poulson, president and co-founder of WPA Architecture. “For the current renovation, the Lodge truly had a vision of enhancing the guest experience by striving for the highest quality. By providing additional space for dining and après ski, they will ensure a comfortable, yet luxurious, setting.”

Interior designers Miller & Jedrziewski are charged with enhancing and updating the Lodge’s Norwegian décor, a tribute to the heritage of the Lodge’s namesake Stein Eriksen. The renovation will feature unique design elements, including decorative cabinets and wall sconces in the restaurant entry and Troll Hallen Lounge, the addition of hard wood floors in the lower area of the bar, as well as decorative, moveable walls in the restaurant.
