Vianix Welcomes New CTO Dr. Veeru Ramaswamy

Reza Hashampour, President and CEO, announced today that Dr. Veeru Ramaswamy has joined the Vianix team as its Chief Technical Officer.

Virginia Beach, Virginia (PRWEB) May 26, 2006 -- Reza Hashampour, President and CEO, announced today that Dr. Veeru Ramaswamy has joined the Vianix team as its Chief Technical Officer.

Dr. Ramaswamy earned his PhD in Computer Science at the University of South Florida, Tampa and his Masters in EE from India Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore, internationally recognized as one of the top science and engineering schools in the world.

Before joining Vianix, Dr. Ramaswamy worked as a Director for Comcast in New Media Development, where he was responsible for the design and architecture of new applications and services for existing and next generation cable infrastructure including DOCSIS, Next-Gen On Demand, PacketCable and IMS Technologies. He represented Comcast in the standards bodies such as CableLabs, and ITU-T.

During a successful career as a researcher and Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, Veeru, as he prefers to be called, was the architect and technical lead in building a Packet Multimedia Gateway (PMG) from wireless to IP networks, in-building wireless (PicoGSM), Digital Watermarking in Cable and Gigabit Ethernet MPLS Switch (GEMS). He was actively involved with the standards body for the interoperability of video, voice, data and control.

Dr. Ramaswamy has more than 15 publications in multimedia communications in peer-reviewed conferences, and reputed journals such as IEEE transactions and a patent filed on SIP Proxy.

Veeru has already jumped into the thick of things at Vianix. He is working closely with Vianix technical and marketing personnel to develop a product roadmap that leverages both existing and emerging technology in new and innovative ways. “I look forward to working with the existing team Reza has assembled, and also meeting and working directly with our customers, to bring value added solutions to their markets.”

Veeru, his wife, his son and their newborn daughter will be relocating from central New Jersey to Virginia Beach this summer.
