Each week, National Speed Sport News, America’s weekly motorsports authority for over 70 years, ranks the best drivers from all forms of motorsports. This week’s issue has the top three spots going to Sebastien Bourdais, Helio Castroneves, and Jimmie Johnson.

Harrisburg, NC (PRWEB) May 26, 2006 -- Sebastien Bourdais from Champ Car continued his reign as the best driver in the world according to the editors at National Speed Sport News. In the weekly paper’s Power Rankings Helio Castroneves from the Indy Racing League stayed in second place, and Jimmie Johnson from NASCAR Nextel Cup moved up to third. Each week the paper at http://www.NationalSpeedSportNews.com ranks the Top 10 drivers from all forms of motorsports based on points standings and their performance at the track.

A winless weekend saw Danny Lasoski slip from the rankings.

1). Sebastien Bourdais, Champ Car. Bourdais made it three-for-three in Champ Car action with a victory at Monterrey, Mexico.

2). Helio Castroneves, Indy Racing League. The IRL point leader is in good position for his third Indy 500 victory after qualifying second.

3). Jimmy Johnson, NASCAR Nextel Cup. Johnson continued his mastery of Lowe’s Motor Speedway, winning the Nextel All-Star Challenge.

4). Fernando Alonso, Formula 1. Alonso gets back on the track this weekend, as Formula 1 visits Monaco.

5). Dan Wheldon, Indy Racing League. Defending Indy 500 champion Wheldon qualified third to begin his quest to repeat.

6). Melanie Troxel, NHRA Top Fuel. Troxel qualified fifth and was ousted in the second round but kept the Top Fuel point lead.

7). Kevin Harvick, NASCAR Nextel Cup; Busch. The Busch Series had the week off, but Harvick finished second in the Nextel All-Star Challenge

8). Tony Stewart, NASCAR Nextel Cup. Stewart had a solid run Saturday at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, but ended up crashing out of the race.

9). Jon Stanbrough, Non-Winged Sprints. With a sweep of two KISS non-winged sprint-car events, Stanbrough has won seven features this year.

10). Ron Capps, NHRA Funny Car. Capps continued to slip after losing to Eric Medlen in the first round on Sunday.

Honorable mention: Sam Hornish, Jr. was dazzling in winning the pole at Indianapolis, and Bryan Clauson earned his second USAC sprint-car triumph of the season.
