SafeDesk Puts Bounties on STS Open-Source Development

Bounties available for developers of Open Source Thin-Client Project

Liberty Lake, WA (PRWEB) May 26, 2006 -- May 26 marks the beginning of the SafeDesk bounty program to encourage involvement of the FOSS community worldwide in the STS Open-Source Project. Bounties provide payment to individuals or groups of individuals participating in the development effort for accomplishing specific project-related components.

The STS Project, launched May 15 has been designed to provide additional options for the deployment of Server-based and thin-client solutions. Currently, the STS project reliably supports local USB drives, sound and streaming video, and uses Samba CIFS instead of NFS for ongoing stability.

SafeDesk is currently inviting individuals or groups from the FOSS community to participate in making STS Bounty program in an effort to further develop an even better thin-client server solution as a compliment to the LTSP and other server-based solutions.

Initial projects not only support the STS project directly, but also support the Debian Live project from which SafeDesk and its engineers have already been contributors. Open bounties will be announced on the SafeDesk website, via the SafeDesk RSS feed and other FOSS bounty websites.
