
Lessons in Leadership for Crisis Management This was the keynote presentation by Dr. Kurt Weingand, President of SciComPro-LLC, at the 26th annual meetings of the Society of Quality Assurance in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 27, 2010. Cincinnati, Ohio (PRWEB) April 27, 2010 Dr. Kurt Weingand, President SciComPro-LLC, delivered the keynote presentation, Lessons in Leadership for Crisis Management, to open the 26th annual meetings of the Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) today. This case study presentation summarized key learnings from the 2007 pet food recall, the largest consumer package good product recall in history. Dr. Weingand was the global crisis team leader for Procter & Gamble (PG) Pet Care during this crisis for pet owners and the pet food industry. “This presentation emphasized the importance of leadership in managing a global business crisis and the need for quality assurance in the development and manufacturing processes of all consumer and pet care products”, said Mr. Richie Siconolfi of the SQA Program Committee. “In a crisis, business leaders rarely know everything they need to know to make ideal decisions immediately”, said Dr. Weingand. He added, “These valuable learnings on the crisis management process can be applied to any crisis, in any business category”. This case study presentation is part of the basic instructional training provided by Dr. Weingand on the crisis management process. Dr. Weingand had a 20 year career at The Procter & Gamble Company working in Research & Development and External Relations in the Global Health & Well-Being business unit.
