Carnival Cruise Lines Settles Seafarer Wage Class Action for $6.24 Million

Carnival Corporation has agreed to pay $6.25 million to settle a class action case filed against the cruise line by its seafaring workers who alleged that Carnival had failed to pay the workers’ full wages, including overtime (Case No: 05-22968-Civ-Cooke/Kline).

(PRWEB) June 1, 2006 -- Carnival Corporation has agreed to pay $6.25 million to settle a class action case filed against the cruise line by its seafaring workers who alleged that Carnival had failed to pay the workers’ full wages, including overtime (Case No: 05-22968-Civ-Cooke/Kline).

The settlement also requires Carnival to provide additional disclosure in its contracts regarding how tips are treated as overtime compensation, and to operate a grievance and arbitration procedure for wage claims. In the settlement, Carnival denies liability in the pending litigation.
