Edison Properties Helps Victims Of The Grand Street Fire Edison Properties and Asian Americans for Equality urge local businesses to join in the relief effort. New York, NY (PRWEB) April 29, 2010 On Sunday, April 11th, Chinatown experienced what has been dubbed by the New York Times as the “City’s Worst Fire in Years.” Three tenements were engulfed in flames, resulting in one death, thirty-three injuries, and hundreds of displaced tenants. Edison Properties quickly responded with a donation of $5000 to the relief efforts spearheaded by Asian American For Equality (AAFE), a local organization dedicated to providing advocacy and access to New York City’s large Asian community. “As a homegrown, family-operated company, we make helping our neighbors in need a priority,” said Gary DeBode, President of Edison Properties. “It’s a continuing company mandate and, frankly, what every good New Yorker we know would do without batting an eye.” AAFE and Edison Properties would like to remind the people and businesses of New York City that their help is still needed. To ease the ID replacement cost for fire victims, the “Grand Street Fire Fund” has been established and can be donated to via cash or check (indicate “For Grand Street Fire” in the memo line) payable to Asian Americans for Equality at 111 Division Street, New York, NY 10002. A tax-exempt donation can also be made online at http://www.aafe.org - please write “For Grand Street Fire” in the Dedication text field. A clothing drive has been organized by Chinatown Partnership Local Development Corporation. Donations can be dropped off during business hours at their office located on 60 St. James Place, New York, NY 10038. For questions, please contact them at 212-346-9288. Edison Properties has been family-owned and operated since 1956. Its affiliated companies include Manhattan Mini Storage, Edison ParkFast, The Ludlow, Workspace offices and Hippodrome – all businesses dedicated to simplifying city life for busy New Yorkers.
