Alper-Gold Specialty Websites Announce Program to Help Send Care Packages to Troops

Alper-Gold Websites is teaming up with Operation Gratitude to raise funds to ship care packages to US troops deployed around the world.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) June 2, 2006 -- Alper-Gold Websites and Operation Gratitude are joining forces to collaborate on a project designed to bring a little slice of home to US troops serving overseas. Visitors to any Alper-Gold specialty retail site, including www.CopShoes.com, www.TacBoots.com, www.CapsNMore.com and www.RockersNMore.com, can donate $1 towards sending a care package to a member of the US Military stationed overseas. Alper-Gold will match customer donations dollar for dollar.

"So far we are receiving donations on about 75% of our orders." Matt Alper, president said. "I'm not surprised by the high donation rate. About thirty percent of our customers are currently in the military. Another forty percent are law enforcement officers, many are veterans. They know the value of a care package.” To date, Operation Gratitude has sent more than 145,000 care packages to service men and women. Brian Gold, National Sales Manager at Alper-Gold said, "It's important to show our appreciation for our troops. This is our way to say thank you for your service."

“We are honored that Alper-Gold is supporting our efforts through this wonderful and simple donation program”, said Carolyn Blashek, director of Operation Gratitude. “The generosity of the Alper-Gold e-commerce customers will enable us to send more than 40,000 fabulous care packages during our Patriotic Drive this summer. We are deeply appreciative of their kindness.”

About Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude, a 501 (c)(3), non-profit, all-volunteer organization, was founded by Carolyn Blashek in 2003. Its mission is to lift morale, put a smile on a service member’s face and to express to all troops the appreciation and support of the American people. The care packages are filled with donated snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of thanks. All financial donations are used to pay shipping expenses which average ~$10-12/package. Hundreds of volunteers assemble the care packages at the California Army National Guard armory in Van Nuys during two annual campaigns: a Patriotic Drive in May-June and a Holiday Drive in November-December. For more information on the group, including letters from troops overseas who have received care packages, visit http://www.opgratitude.com/index.php .
