DuPont Partners with 27th Annual Best Ranger Competition

Founding Supporter Honors Those who Protect us at Three-Day Event

Wilmington, Del. (Vocus) May 7, 2010

DuPont announced it will be a supporting donor of the 27th Best Ranger Competition -- an annual competition developed to salute and honor the most outstanding United States Army Rangers. DuPont has supported the event since its inception.

The intense three-day competition, held at Fort Benning, Ga., consists of selected events such as distance running, marksmanship, weapons assembly, foot march and airborne operations. Two-man “buddy” teams compete in multiple events that test their physical, mental and technical abilities to find the best of the best from the United States Armed Forces. The Best Ranger Competition 2010 will be held May 7-9 and is open to the public.

“As a founding partner of the Best Ranger Competition, we are honored to show our continued support for the event and for the men and women of our armed forces,” said William F. Weber, vice president -- DuPont Protection Technologies, North America. “DuPont began developing products for America’s military over 200 years ago. We are excited to again be a part of an event that allows us to support all those who work to keep us safe.”

Throughout the event, competitors will be donning body armor, helmets and army combat uniforms (ACUs). DuPont™ Kevlar® brand fiber, used in both soft and hard armor applications, has helped protect military personnel for over 40 years. In addition, DuPont™ Nomex® brand fiber provides flame resistance for many military uniforms including the FREE (flame-resistant environmental ensemble), A2CU (Army Aircrew combat uniform) and iCVC (improved combat vehicle crewman coverall).

“The companies and individuals that support the Best Ranger Competition and The National Ranger Association make it possible to create the best experience for the competitors as well as give us the continued opportunity, throughout the year, to promote Ranger values and enhance esprit-de-corps within the Ranger community,” said Candyss Bryant, development coordinator -- National Ranger Association. “We truly value and are honored with the support provided by our longstanding Ranger friends and supporters.”

The National Ranger Association, Inc. was formed in 1998 and is governed by a board of six. The Association was established to recognize distinguished members in the Ranger community and to promote the values established in the Ranger Creed. The National Ranger Association helps to raise funds to support The Best Ranger Competition, The Ranger Hall of Fame and the Distinguished Member of the Brigade.
