Our customers are from all over the country -- big cities and small towns -- and expectant moms from the Netherlands to Greece to Japan.”

“We conceived of the idea of the store because when we were nesting for our own children, we couldn’t find the types of products we really wanted, at least not in one place,” says Samantha. “Nina and I have been lifelong friends, and knew that customers would love the same things we did.” Nina adds, “We just didn’t expect the customers to be quite so famous!”

The elegant West Hollywood boutique is jam-packed with everything from furniture, bedding, toys, accessories, and clothes so soft customers ask if the store sells grown-up sizes, too. “Tori Spelling went ga-ga for the matching mother-daughter flip-flops,” says Samantha. “And Katie Holmes has several of these ‘Smushy’ elephants," says Nina, pointing to a crib full of hundreds of white elephants with pink and blue ribbons.

For those who want to shop there but can’t make it to the store, Petit Tresor’s website offers all the same products, at http://www.petittresor.com. “We’ve even had out-of-town customers call and ask us to fly to their hometown and outfit their child’s nursery in the same way that we have for certain celebrities,” adds Nina. “And we do make housecalls! But our focus is always on creating the most comfortable environment for each customer’s child, no matter what someone else purchased.”

In this day and age of celebrity worship and “famous baby” obsession, it’s nice to know that two old friends are proprietors of a store that still keeps the most important customer in mind: the baby.
