TIR EXERCISES ITS OPTION TO ACQUIRE REMAINING LIMITED PARTNERSHIP UNITS - TIR ACHIEVING ADVANCEMENTS IN SOLID STATE LIGHTING -

Vancouver, BC - TIR Systems Ltd., (TIY:TSX Venture Exchange) a leading specialty lighting technology company, has exercised its option to acquire the outstanding TIR Systems Limited Partnership units held by Morgan Sturdy.

The Partnership, which was marketing and selling certain TIR products and applications to certain segments of the lighting industry, will be wound down as of today. As such, all licence rights granted to the Partnership return to the Company. The Company issued 300,000 shares on closing to acquire 150 units from Morgan Sturdy. The common shares are subject to a four-month hold period as per securities regulations. This option was disclosed at the time of the funding of TIR Systems Limited Partnership.

The TIR Systems Limited Partnership was purchased by both Discovery Capital 2001 Technology Limited Partnership Discovery Capital" and Morgan Sturdy in September 2001 for $1,250,000 and $150,000 respectively. The Company issued 2,500,000 shares to Discovery Capital on April 17, 2002 and issued 300,000 shares to Morgan Sturdy on June 11, 2002. This brings the Companys current outstanding common shares to 16,706,147.

The use of these proceeds has assisted TIR in strengthening its market position in Solid State Lighting. In particular; the technology advancements required for the development of power supply, control systems and optical techniques for Solid State Lighting Products. These core enabling technologies will allow TIR to produce complete lighting systems that will meet the needs of our specific markets.
