It is an Introduction to Cognitive-Behavioral Strategies and Cardin, a staunch supporter of Autism research will attend along with key personel from his Mental Health Answering Service.

This one-day conference is designed to provide consultants, therapists, and parents who live with and serve children with Aspergers an overview of Aspergers and Cognitive-Behavioral Strategies. Children and Adolescents with Asperger’s Syndrome pose unique challenges for the adults (and peers) in their lives. Cognitive-Behavior therapy with its practical and rational approach to working on challenges has the best research support for effectiveness of any therapeutic approach for Aspergers.

The agenda includes an overview of Asperger’s Syndrome, including related educational strengths and needs. These educational issues are then discussed with special attention to proactive strategies in the areas of communication, social skills and self-management. Topics will include teaching strategies, error correction, reinforcement strategies, and behavior management strategies. The workshop consists of a combination of lecture, video examples, and small-group activities.
