Petaluma, CA (PRWEB) May 28, 2010 OpenClovis Solutions, Inc., the leader in Open Source High Availability (HA) Middleware and Tools, recently signed a contract with Telecom Malaysia Research and Development (TMR&D), the research and development arm of Telecom Malaysia Berhad (TM), to support the development of a nation-wide Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) service. The agreement between the two companies will allow TMR&D access to OpenClovis’ unique, open source dual-license Middleware software platform, the OpenClovis Application Service Provider (ASP), to build a GPON leveraging commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) platform. "TMR&D is very pleased to be able to work with OpenClovis in developing our GPON Optical Line Terminal (OLT) controller," said Mr. Ruslaan Ab Ghani, Project Manager at TMR&D. "Their innovative software and tools allow us to develop a high-end carrier-class service within a very tight delivery schedule.” The OpenClovis ASP is the only Middleware on the market that supports a variety of ATCA and Linux platforms, which allows developers to rapidly develop and integrate application services. The company is also the only provider on the market that provides a suite of application design and development tools, and is renowned for its best-in-class technical support and overall expertise. "We are excited to have the opportunity to work with TMR&D on this project," said V.K. Budhraja, CEO, OpenClovis. "This project is all about helping our customers achieve their business goal as quickly as possible. Our strong technical expertise and robust, reliable software will help TMR&D build a strong software platform that will help them deploy their services in a reliable fashion.” The OpenClovis ASP consists of an extensive set of management software modules running on a distributed, model-driven core infrastructure, and is aligned with the Service Availability Forum (SA Forum) Application Interface Specifications for high availability. Modules may be selected to best match the application and platform requirements. The OpenClovis ASP can be distributed across blades, shelves, and even racks, creating a seamless high availability platform and system management environment across heterogeneous network element building blocks. The OpenClovis ASP is suitable for a wide range of carrier grade network elements, and its usage ranges from broadband access devices for technologies such as DSL, PON, 3G/WiMAX, to metro Ethernet and edge switches/routers, IPTV application servers and IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) core elements. OpenClovis products are offered and supported under a dual GNU Public License (GPL) open source and commercial license model.
