Visionary Installs Metro Ethernet in Casper

Visionary Communications has completed installation of Metro Ethernet data connectivity in Casper, Wyoming.

Casper, WY (PRWEB) July 6, 2006 -- Visionary Communications has installed Metro Ethernet in Casper, providing Ethernet data connectivity over a series of synchronous DSL circuits. Visionary is providing Metro Ethernet to customers requiring Ethernet hand-off at their equipment for Internet access or transport between locations within Casper.

Visionary has selected equipment from Adtran and Actelis to deliver the Metro Ethernet product, often referred to as Ethernet First Mile (EFM) products. These products allow the company to deliver between 2.3Mbps and 40Mbps of traffic to the customer as Ethernet, simplifying the customer's equipment requirements.

"Metro Ethernet is available in Seattle and Denver. Why not Casper?" asked Brian Worthen, CEO and President of Visionary. "The data needs of our customers are growing, and the Metro Ethernet product is enabling us to stay ahead of that growth."

Worthen went on to explain that the use of synchronous DSL to deliver Metro Ethernet is a method that drastically improves delivery time for the customer. Most businesses has copper telephone lines to their location, meaning the customer can receive Metro Ethernet services from Visionary without a lengthy fiber build.

Businesses rely heavily on T1s and frame relay, which have become noticeably slower in the DSL world. Technologies such as Asynchronous DSL and cable Internet have enticed businesses to pursue faster connections. However, these technologies do not provide fast upload speeds, hindering the upgrade to services faster than T1. In Metro Areas, Metro Ethernet and EFM products close that gap.

Visionary's Metro Ethernet product augments its bonded DSL services, which went live in April. The company is scheduling the Metro Ethernet product for install in Buffalo, Cody, Douglas, and Gillette by year-end.

Visionary Communications is Wyoming's pioneering broadband provider, offering DSL in 18 Wyoming communities, and wireless broadband in 11 Wyoming communities. The company provides Internet services in more than 90 towns and cities. The company operates their own DSL and fixed-wireless plants throughout the state. The company is headquartered in Gillette, Wyoming.
