Mehera Shaw, a Family-Owned Fashion House, Launches Its Fair Made Campaign Targeting the Emerging Eco-Conscious Fashionista

Can fairly made fashion be fashionable? Mehera Shaw, a family-owned fashion house in NC, has been making fairly made and classicaly feminine styles since 1999 and is promoting their conscious fashion.

Carrboro, NC (PRWEB) July 5, 2006 -- Ever wonder where that cute-as-can-be dress came from? Who made it? Did the stitchers get paid fairly for it? The tough questions few want to ask much less hear the answers to - especially when it’s not so easy to find great or even stylish fashions in the sustainable fashion realm. Mehera Shaw, a small, family owned fashion house in North Carolina has, since its formation in 1999, been making fairly made fashions. Mehera Shaw grew out of owners, Mark and Shari Keller’s, long-standing relationship with India, its people and indigenous design. The Kellers have developed a style that translates traditional Indian methods of manufacture such as hand block printing, treadle sewing machines and pintucking into upscale, western design. The result? “A vivaciously feminine collection of cotton blouses, skirts, and dresses that restore both the diginity of workers and classic notions of femininity, “ says designer, Shari Keller.

Shari comments: “Finally there is an emergent market niche: conscious style. Women are searching for the Mehera Shaw combination of fairly made, natural fibers clothing and vibrant, feminine styles. Fair made has always been an integral part of our company philosophy. Now we are also able to promote our philosophy to like minded consumers who really care that a garment was made ethically and want something really fashionable, vibrant and feminine.”

The small fashion house has always had a vision for the future: to connect eco-friendly and fair traded clothing with truly feminine sensibilities and to make their clothes accessible to the conscious and stylish woman. Their shop at the Carr Mill mall in the triangle region of North Carolina and their website both offer a dynamic collection of sophisticated casual wear.

Mehera Shaw, is also developing a line of stylish organic/fair trade cottons. Their organic cottons will be incorporated into their seasonal spring/summer and fall/winter collections. They plan to carry their new product later this year in their Carr Mill boutique in Carrboro, NC and on the web at www.meherashaw.com.
