AsiaForVisitors.com Adds New Local Currency Feature

Planning your next trip just got even easier, with AsiaForVisitors.com's new "My Currency" feature. With this new capability, local prices for everything from hotel rooms to entrance fees are displayed in any currency of the user's choosing.

Bangkok, Thailand (PRWEB) July 6, 2006 -- On-line travel guide AsiaForVisitors.com today announced new features allowing users of the web site to see cost information in their monetary unit of choice, regardless of which currency that may be. “Using web services, we're able to instantly retrieve exchange information for more than 100 countries,” says Michael Holland, author of AsiaForVisitors.com. “Most printed guides either show amounts in the local currency of the subject country, or they convert to some 'standard' currency such as US Dollars, sometimes using exchange rates that are completely out of date by the time the book is printed. By showing amounts in the currency of the user's choosing, and using the most current exchange rate information, we make it easier for people to plan their travel using AsiaForVisitors.com.”

The user's currently selected monetary unit is shown in the top navigation area of each page on AsiaForVisitors.com. Clicking on “My Currency” displays a list of every country for which exchange information is available to choose from. Once selected, the web site retains the user's monetary unit across all pages and even repeat visits. Any cost information contained on any page of the site, such as entrance fees or transportation costs, will display the amount in the local currency as well as the user's selected currency. “Some Asian currencies can be a bit daunting to deal with,” continued Holland. “If you see that a taxi into Ho Chi Minh City runs 75,000 Dong, you might be questioning your budget, but if you can see right there that it's only around five Dollars US, it makes budgeting your travels all that much easier.”

AsiaForVisitors.com is one of the largest on-line travel guides to Southeast Asia. With content covering Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, the web site contains more than 5,000 pages of information complemented by more than 3,000 photographs.
