New York, NY (PRWEB) July 11, 2006 -- TAG Creative, an award-winning visual communications agency, was awarded a Bronze Worldfest Remi Award for "The Commemoration of Thirty Years of United Nations Efforts to Promote Gender Equality." The piece was a five part video produced for the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, commemorating the ten year anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the thirty-year anniversary of the First World Conference on Women in Mexico in 1975.

“The video segments submitted by TAG Creative to open the March 4th Commemoration of 30 Years of UN efforts to promote gender equality and introduce the four world conferences on women were beautifully produced,” stated Kyung-wha Kang; Chair, 49th session of the Commission on the Status of Women and Minister, Republic of Korea Mission to the United Nations. “They perfectly captured the spirit of the occasion and took our summit to a whole new level of celebration. I believe the video inserts were a key factor in making the Commemoration a great success,” Kang concluded.

The first of the five segments opened the Commemoration of International Women event. The remaining 4 segments introduced the four world conferences held in Mexico, 1975 - Copenhagen, 1980 - Nairobi, 1985 and Beijing, 1995, and each of the Secretary Generals who were to address the UN.

The video segments included historical footage from the official world conferences but also non-governmental organizations (NGO) ceremonies that happened simultaneously with the conferences, which were organized by tens of thousands of local women and women from all over the globe.

Terry Rieser, TAG Partner and Head of Production commented on the process, “Producing this video was truly a moving experience. To work with all the amazing footage of the four world conferences immediately gave you a sense of oneness with women all over the world whose efforts and contributions were being honored. Being a woman-owned company, it was an absolute privilege to be part of this historical event”.

The UN Commission on the Status of Women commemorates not only the ten year anniversary of the adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, but also the thirty-year anniversary of the First World Conference on Women in Mexico in 1975.

Panelists included persons present at each of the world conferences, as well as other high-level invited speakers. This meeting is part of the formal work program of the forty-ninth session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

The Commission will consider two themes: “Review of the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and the outcome documents of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly”; and “Current challenges and forward-looking strategies for the advancement and empowerment of women and girls”. The review and appraisal at the forty-ninth session provides an opportunity for Member States to outline their commitment to the goal of gender equality, the strategies of gender mainstreaming and women's empowerment.
