NAMWOLF Lauds Arizona Statewide Push for Study on Utilization of Minority and Women Owned Businesses

The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) commends the state of Arizona for their examination of how the state awards contracts to minority and women-owned small businesses.

Arizona (PRWEB) July 8, 2006 -- The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) commends the state of Arizona for its examination of how the state awards contracts to minority and women-owned small businesses.

Gov. Janet Napolitano and the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) are pushing for a study to determine whether race or gender discrimination exists while companies bid for business contracts. This issue has resurfaced after ADOT was forced to halt its disadvantaged business enterprise program unless a study was conducted to confirm that discrimination exists.

“NAMWOLF is very pleased and excited to hear about the increased support for a statewide study in Arizona,” said Yolanda Coly, Associate Director of NAMWOLF. “Conducting this study is important for the state contract-equity efforts.”

The National Association of Minority & Women Owned Law Firms (www.namwolf.org) was founded in June 2001. It is a national trade association comprising a select group of minority and women-owned law firms who exhibit excellence in the legal profession. The primary aim of the organization is to advocate for the utilization of minority and women-owned law firms by major corporations and government entities throughout the United States.
