Mad Dogs, Mojo Men and A Cosmic Buffalo

Remember those soft summer nights filled with FM stations playing, Smokey Robinson, James Brown and Marvin Gaye, along with Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Doobie Bros, Sons of Chamblin and the Grateful Dead, when they were contemporary artists? When most all of the music had a hopeful message? Of course we knew that things were serious even grim then, but we knew that together we could make a better world. Together we could respect others right to choose to be different and that was cool. Strong examples of the change we wished to see in the world were in a surplus then. So many bright lights to lead the way for the weaker or meeker of us. We were inspired to be that change. All of us.

San Jose, CA (PRWEB) July 17, 2006 -- In many ways these times are very much like those times, only without the luminary leaders with the courage to stand and deliver with a loud enough voice as to stir those too comfortable, those too reluctant or too much in denial to see. That which is obvious to all, that we do have to find a way to bring some loving here today. As in the words of one of those days visionary artists, Marvin Gaye.

If you are one of those people that like the music of those days and would like to go one place to get it all, then your in luck. Aquamain Services and the Avalon Club in Santa Clara, California, have the answer. A night with something for everybody.

Join us in the dual CD release party of Cosmic Buffalo and original member of Jefferson Airplane, Bob Harvey, as he celebrates his return to the Bay area, since the 1960's, with his new band 'Georgia Blue' and the release of their new CD, 'Children of the Wind. Georgia Blue, is a fine sample of Acoustical Bluegrass. They will be coming all the way from Georgia, where Bob Harvey now calls home.

In the early 60's, in the Bay area, Harvey formed the 'Slippery Rock String Band' before he became the bass player for Jefferson Airplane.

Cosmic Buffalo consists of Chris Corso and Paul La Bonte with the help of Koolpop and the Groovemasters. Cosmic Buffalo is offering the result of 3 years of effort to create a wide variety of styles in an uncontemporary structure. With songs that have very much a southern rock and blues flavor, their new CD, 'Shake hands with the Moon' also has jazz and psycedelic traces.

Helping in the celebration is The Jerry Miller Band and Koolpop and the Groovemasters. Opening is Bob Harvey and Georgia Blue offering songs that span Bobs colorful and varied styles over the years. Next is 'The Jerry Miller Band', featuring Jerry Miller formerly of the Rythym Dukes and Moby Grape.

Jerry Miller was voted one of the top 100 guitar players ever from Rolling Stones. With Jerry are Tiran Porter, from the Doobie Brothers, on Bass and Dale Occerman on keyboards, formerly of the Doobie Bros and John “Fuzzy” Oxendine, formerly of Sons of Chamblin on Drums.

What a line-up ... but wait ... next is, Koolpop and the Groovemasters, led by Mr. Rocky Peoples on Saxophone. Rocky holds 4 gold records while playing for Ray Charles, Billy Preston and Stevie Wonder. Enjoy those great Motown hits from artists like Jay and the Allstars, Marvin Gaye, Sam and Dave, James Brown, etc...

Koolpop and the Groovemasters are backing Cosmic Buffalo to bring you some very original music that is a cross between the Allman Brothers or Lynryd Skynyrd and the Grateful Dead with Jazzy strokes of color and a blues demeanor.

Come out and help us celebrate this dual release. Along with the admission price of $25.00, one gets free food from the time the doors open at 7pm. till the food is gone, first come first served. $2.00 off one domestic beer or house wine and 1 free vintage style poster of the event in the tradition of the Fillmore West. Finger foods will be available when the doors open, however, a menu of items is available also ... but wait that’s not all folks ... along with all this great stuff you also get a free CD from both Georgia Blue and Cosmic Buffalo.
