Diversity Job Fair Coming to Indio People of all races and ethnicities are looking for jobs. An opportunity for Palm Springs-area employers and jobseekers to meet face to face is coming Aug. 9 to the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio. Indio, CA (PRWEB) July 19, 2006 -- The Inland Empire Diversity Career and Job Fair is coming to Indio Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the Riverside County Fairgrounds.
“Our goal is to put together those who want to work locally and the great local companies who want a diverse local workforce. Too often, employers assume minorities won’t fit in or won’t be interested in their companies. Nothing could be further from the truth,” said Eric Benz, president of the African-American Chamber of Commerce of Palm Springs.
The employers searching for a diverse local workforce include: Riverside County, Wells Fargo, Owens Corning Home Experts, Desert Sand Unified School District, The Coachella Valley Mosquito Abatement District, College of Automotive Management, Primerica Financial Services, Riverside County Sheriff, 909Models.com, Allied Barton Security, Universal Nursing Systems, Knott’s Family Agency and more.
What’s it all mean? To organizers it’s simple: We are happy to help people of all ages, races, and backgrounds find the local job they want.
According to Sherrice Mitchell, executive director for the Inland Empire Chamber of Commerce, the unemployment rate for Blacks and Hispanics is two times greater than for whites, and the Diversity Job Fairs can help remedy that.
Sponsors include the Inland Empire Chambers of Commerce, The National American Unity Association, 909Models.com, Hispanic Connect, publications including Black Voice News, Precinct Reporter, WestSide Story and El Chicano plus Dameron Communications.
