Harrisburg, PA (PRWEB) July 24, 2006 —4 Schmidt Kramer P.C. (www.schmidtkramer.com), a Harrisburg-based law firm, will sponsor the 20th Annual Golf Tournament to benefit United Cerebral Palsy of Central Pennsylvania, Inc. The tournament will be held Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at the Country Club of Harrisburg, located at 401 Fishing Creek Valley Rd.

"The members of Schmidt Kramer are privileged to be a part of such a wonderful community event that raises awareness and funds for local citizens with disabilities. Because UCP Central PA makes a difference in the lives of so many people across the region, our law firm would like to show our gratitude and appreciation," says Gerard Kramer, a senior partner of Schmidt Kramer, P.C., as well as a former president of the board of UCP Central PA. "We invite golfers of all skill levels to join us on this special day and support our fellow community members."

This year’s honorary tournament chairman is Rory Ritrievi, chief lending officer of Commerce Bank, and he will be joined by special guest Ron Jaworski, former NFL Philadelphia Eagle quarterback and current president of the arena football team Philadelphia Soul.

The tournament begins with registration, lunch, and a silent auction, followed by a shotgun tee-off. A buffet dinner, live auction, and awards ceremony will begin after the tournament, where prizes will be awarded for excellence to both men and women participants in the following categories: low gross, low net, longest drive, and closest to the pin. All golfers will have the opportunity to compete in the hole-in-one challenge for a chance to win a Chevrolet Impala, courtesy of Sutliff Auto Group.

Last year's Schmidt Kramer golf tournament had approximately 120 participants and raised nearly $35,000. During the past 19 years the golf tournament has raised more than $335,000. Events such as the golf tournament are vital in raising community awareness and money that supports the many activities of UCP Central PA—which, for the past 50 years, has been providing program services to diverse groups of people, not just those with cerebral palsy. UCP Central PA provides a number of services to support individuals living with developmental delay, diabetes, stroke, arthritis, visual impairment, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, and premature birth, to name a few.

“Our firm is built on teamwork and respect for others. As a result, we have come together to support an organization that continues to make a positive difference in the lives of those with disabilities. In addition to the golf tournament, we also support the UCP's ATTITUDES essay contest, which encourages young adults to express their thoughts regarding people living with disabilities,” continues Mr. Kramer, who is currently serving as UCP golf committee chairman. The law firm also participates in Law Day (May 1) activities by speaking to students about the differences between civil and criminal cases as well as the rights and responsibilities of a good citizen.
