U.S. Rail & Infrastructure Trade Mission to the U.A.E. on Track

Joint U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council-Association of American Railroads delegation will explore opportunities for US businesses to compete for the U.A.E’s Union Railway project

Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 17, 2010

Thirty companies representing the U.S.’ rail and infrastructure technology, engineering, security and construction sectors will convene at the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi on Sunday, June 20, 2010 to launch the “The U.S. Commercial Railroad & Infrastructure Trade Mission to the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.),” led by the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council and the Association of American Railroads (AAR).

The trade mission, taking place from June 20th to June 24th, will feature briefings and meetings with key political officials and business executives from the U.A.E., and will focus on Union Railway’s massive development plans for the U.A.E.’s freight and passenger rail system.

“Union Railway’s development plan presents American companies the opportunity to compete in the U.A.E.’s railroad and infrastructure development,” said Danny Sebright, President of the U.S.-U.A.E. Business Council. “U.S. rail and engineering companies have the experience and know-how to undertake such a significant infrastructure project. Competing for this project could lead to new business that creates jobs in accordance with President Obama’s National Export Initiative.”

The U.S. delegation will visit key logistics sites in locations throughout the U.A.E. essential to linking the railroad’s build-out to the broader infrastructure of the U.A.E. and, eventually, to the Gulf Cooperation Council (G.C.C.) region as a whole.

“Members of the delegation will have the unique opportunity to develop relationships with key Emirati industrial counterparts and the chance to bring established best practices of the American rail and infrastructure industry to the U.A.E.,” said Robert VanderClute, Senior Vice President of Safety and Operations for AAR.

The mission will conclude in Dubai on the afternoon of Thursday, June 24th, after five days of briefings and networking opportunities with political officials and local industry representatives.

The mission is certified by the Commercial Service of the U.S. Department of Commerce and is supported by the U.A.E. Embassy Trade and Commercial Office in Washington, D.C.
