The parade, organized by the Grupo Arco-Íris de Conscientização Homossexual (GAI), is one of the largest in the world. Parade organizers are expecting 800,000 people to attend. The theme for this year’s parade is “I’m a citizen, I’m just like you.” The event will focus on the call for equal rights for gay people, the criminalization of homophobia and the right for domestic partnership.
