Unusual Hand Painted Portraits from Photographs from Tulsa Artists Playfully Display Subject's Personality

Inkling Creations, a Tulsa-based collection of artists, has launched a new website to offer playfully stylized portraits from photographs online by commission.

Tulsa, OK (PRWEB) August 10, 2006 -- The artists of Inkling Creations have been inspired to recreate treasured photographs by infusing them with playfulness and personality.

"We're shaking things up a little," said portrait artist Krystal Traywick. "Out of all artists taking commissions online for hand painted portraits from photographs, you'd be hard pressed to find one who does what we do."

And what does Inkling Creations do? Traywick describes their hand painted portraits as a "stylized interpretation of the subject's personality". With color and shape, Traywick and the other portrait artists at Inkling Creations create semi-realistic portraits from photographs sent by the client. Each hand painted portrait is on canvas and trimmed in black so it's ready to hang or frame once it's received.

"Some of our custom portraits have started out as pretty crazy ideas, but once the painting is complete I can't help wondering why that crazy idea didn't come along months ago," said Traywick. "We're currently working on a family portrait with each individual's face on a different hexagonal canvas. All the canvases are monochromatic portraits in tones of gold and brown, and will be arranged on the wall like a honeycomb, with a couple of solid gold canvases mixed in for good measure. The individual portraits can be rearranged on a whim, essentially making a new family portrait over and over. The final painting is going to be massive, but I think it's definitely going to be worth it."
