Impello Films Completes Production of "The Headhunter," the Riveting True Story of an Adoring Brother’s Tumultuous Life “Backstage” Protecting the King of Rock and Roll

Filmmaker D. Edward Stanley takes movie audiences on the surreal rock and roller coaster ride he experienced as Elvis’ stepbrother and personal bodyguard.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- Independent filmmaker D. Edward Stanley announced today the completion of his first feature film “The HeadHunter.” Stanley, the film’s director/writer/producer, drew from the wealth of his own life experiences to bring this powerful original story to the screen -- experiences, which for Stanley, began when he was four years old and suddenly found himself living in the Graceland Mansion with new big brother Elvis Presley. His new family was the result of his mother Dee’s marriage to Elvis’ widowed father, Vernon Presley in 1960.

Stanley’s “The HeadHunter,” which includes stars Matt Barr, Peter Dobson, Tom Sizemore, Danielle Keaton and Brian Krause, hits high gear with Stanley as a 16-year-old high school student who just 24 hours later finds himself with the biggest and hottest rock show of the '70s as a personal bodyguard to the King of Rock and Roll. Growing up fast, Stanley quickly builds a repertoire of skills from martial arts to guarding the secrets of his big brother.

The film chronicles the close relationship and experiences of the two brothers on and off the road, from the frightening pressures of tour schedules and the use and abuse of prescribed medications, to the tragic toll of the fast-paced lifestyle on the world famous rock star and his young stepbrother. The pivotal moment for both men comes on August 16, 1977, when all Stanley’s consummate bodyguard skills, devotion and love are not enough to save The King from the one person that proves fatal -- himself.

“This movie isn’t about high collars and sideburns,” Stanley said. “It’s a true story about what it was like for me at the age of sixteen to be plunged into the surrealistic, self-destructive world of an international icon. An icon, who by a bizarre twist of fate, became my big brother, surrogate father, mentor and friend.”
