Facebook-like Website Limits Membership to Top 20 Schools Top20Network.com is a networking website for the top 20 US institutions: Harvard, Princeton, Yale, U. of Pennsylvania, Duke, MIT, Stanford, Cal. Tech., Columbia, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Wash. U., Brown, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, U. of Chicago, Rice, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, and Emory. (PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- Top20Network.com announced today it has completed its beta testing stage. CEO Judah Wilson is quoted, “Today is exciting because we have all the pieces in place to begin strongly approaching alumni.”
The company has been beta testing for the past six months and has monitored the user experience closely to fine tune the registration process and the user interface. Wilson considers Top20Network.com a compromise to sites like Facebook.com and Myspace.com, where security and privacy are serious issues. Above all, Wilson claims Top20Network.com is a viable solution to bridging the gaps in communication among alumni at the top 20 US institutions: “We are opening the lines of communication for alumni of Wharton and Harvard Business School, Duke and Stanford, UCLA and Northwestern ... that is a step in the right direction.”
Critics argue Top20Network.com is elitist in limiting membership to only the top 20 US institutions, however, the company considers their ranking system no different than the US News and World Report College Rankings. Wilson commented, “our website is about creating a quality community, pure and simple.”
