9/11 Anniversary Patch Honors Emergency Services, Soldiers

The 9/11 anniversary patch is a tribute to those who gave their lives on 9/11 and to those who continue to risk their lives daily.

(PRWEB)August 7, 2006 -- A 9/11 five-year anniversary patch was recently released from the 9/11 Patch Project Web site. This patch is a tribute to those who gave their lives on 9/11 and to those who continue to risk their lives daily.

Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will be donated to three specific funds relating to fire and EMS, police and military non-profits. The patch follows the successful four-year run of the 9-11 Patch, which features a single firefighter holding an axe. This patch was sold to more than 4,000 organizations worldwide. All the net patch proceeds were donated to the UFA Widows and Children’s Fund of the FDNY.

The 5-Year 9/11Anniversary Patch has an American flag backdrop, with three figures rising above the World Trade Center towers. The figures are that of a soldier, a firefighter and a police officer. The words, “WE WILL NEVER FORGET,” are inscribed at the bottom of the patch, which is outlined in black.

The new five-year patch is designed to be worn on the uniforms of firefighters, EMT’s, paramedics, police officers and soldiers as a sign of unity. The patch is meant to equally represent and be worn by all emergency service workers and soldiers. The design comes from Brett Hill, firefighter and founder of the 9/11 Patch Project; Mikel Bullis, retired firefighter, host and Web designer for the project Web site; and Bryan Russell, firefighter and founder of DateAHero.com.

Hill’s mission the past 5 years has been to get the 9/11 Patch on the shoulders of all emergency service personnel across our nation. Hill said, “It’s about sharing common threads and wearing our hearts on our sleeves.” Both patch designs are available for personnel to choose from.

In addition to the patches, decals and dog tags of the images are available from the website as well. The patch is professionally produced by a San Diego company called Pacific Sportswear & Emblem. The patches are sold for $4.95 each, representing approximately 30% off suggested retail. All items can be ordered directly from the website at http://911patchproject.org
