Seattle-based Author Stretches Boundaries of Historical, Speculative Fiction in Upcoming Novel Kurt R.A. Giambastiani blends History, Philosophy, Adventure, and Current Events in his new genre-busting novel, "Unraveling Time." Seattle, WA (PRWEB) August 9, 2006 -- Kurt R.A. Giambastiani, author of previous groundbreaking works of alternate history and speculative fiction, has written a new, genre-busting novel with a unique mixture of history, philosophy, cosmology, and drama.
"Unraveling Time" (Mouse Road Press, August 2006) is a novel of breathtaking scope that bridges the ancient locations of Judea, Greece, and Egypt with the modern histories of Philadelphia and Iraq. The main characters -- a present-day couple from Seattle -- lose their lives in a car accident and are cast into the stream of time. There, separated and adrift, they must fight if they wish to regain their lives and their own personal history. Their primary obstacle, however, is not the rogue entities who usurped their lives; it is their own doubts and fears over their mutual love and the convoluted nature of time itself that challenge them most.
Giambastiani takes the subjects of time, consciousness, and the afterlife head-on, showing with brilliant imagery the world of higher dimensions. He has created a fresh and tantalizing view of space-time that is easily comprehended, but still intriguingly provocative.
Kurt R.A. Giambastiani has been stretching the limits of established genres for years. His "Fallen Cloud Saga" (2001-2004, Roc Books) expanded the definition of alternate history with a re-imagining of Custer in the American West. With "Dreams of the Desert Wind" (2005, Fairwood Press), he mixed suspense, romance, and the supernatural to create a modern fantasy of the Middle East.
Now he has done it again with a work that blends adventure, time travel, history, and love in a drama that spans the history of the Western world.
"A writer with the powerful ability to draw real characters in his fictional settings," says Robert Metzger, Nebula award-nominated author of "Cusp."
"Giambastiani weaves a rich tapestry of period, place, and character in this riveting journey of souls," writes K.A. Corlett, author of "Ever Your Servant."
Giambastiani is available for online chats and phone interviews.
