Phoenix Dentist Joseph R. Cohen, D.D.S., is Chosen by The American Dental Association's Commission on Dental Accreditation as Site Visitor.

As an ADA Site Visitor for Orofacial Pain and TMD graduate programs, Dr. Joseph R. Cohen will help evaluate graduate programs to determine if they meet required standards for accreditation. Graduates of these programs will help treat those suffering with pain associated with TMD/TMJ Syndrome.

The American Dental Associations Commission
on Dental Accreditation (CODA) has appointed Joseph R. Cohen, D.D.S., to the
position of Site Visitor for Orofacial Pain and TMD graduate programs.

“The C.O.D.A. team will evaluate the graduate programs for TMD and Orofacial
pain to make sure they meet the newly established training standards for dentists
who treat TMD and Orofacial Pain. This will help to establish optimal treatment
options for those living with the discomfort associated with Orofacial Pain”, said
Cohen.

Dr. Cohen will play an instrumental role in the evaluation of Orofacial
Pain/TMD graduate programs, helping to determine if they meet or exceed the
rigorous standards set by The American Dental Association, while also
determining if an individual program is ready for accreditation.

Orofacial Pain and TMD was recently approved as an “emerging specialty” by the
American Dental Association, and includes conditions that involve the
temporomandibular joint and the muscles that are used to chew known as the
masticatory muscles. Patients with conditions associated with Orofacial pain or
TMJ, often experience symptoms that include severe jaw and tooth pain, head
and neck pain as well as migraine headaches.

Joseph R. Cohen, DDS is the founder of Southwest Pain Management
Associates, headquartered in Phoenix Ariz., where he focuses on the treatment
of Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. Dr. Cohen is a
diplomat of the American Board of Orofacial Pain.
