(PRWEB) July 8, 2010 Beginning this month, California State University, Los Angeles will offer an online Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP) Certification Education Program to meet the needs of college students and mid-career professionals. The CFP® Board Examination program is one of four components leading to certification as a Certified Financial PlannerTM. The U.S. Department of Labor, through its Bureau of Labor Statistics, predicts that the decade 2008-2018 will be one in which the profession of personal financial advisor will experience “much faster than average growth” – largely to assist the aging Baby Boom generation in planning for retirement (Occupational Outlook Quarterly, Spring, 2010). This program is designed to keep up with the rising demand of various financial planning and advisor job-related opportunities. The Division of Extended Education at Cal State L.A. will offer self-paced, on-line CFP Board Exam training in five subject-areas: “Tax Management and Strategy,” “Risk Management and Insurance,” “Estate Planning,” “Investment Planning,” and “Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits.” As part of this program, students will have access to an expert mentor, available to consult during stated “virtual office hours,” to assist with questions and to explain concepts further. The online courses—offered without degree or certificate credit—are available through a partnership with The Learning House, Inc., a total online education solution partner. The Learning House is committed to providing a robust learning management system along with 24/7 on-demand faculty and staff training, student support, and fail-safe hosting services. Students may enroll for one course at $625, and may take several courses simultaneously. To enroll for all five courses at one time, there is a savings of $530 (about $106 per class).
