"Pepy Ride" Brings Volunteer Travelers to Cambodia to Build Medical Center in Phnom Penh this August The Pepy Ride is a New York State registered Non-for-Profit Corporation founded in 2005 to support educational projects in developing countries and disaster relief areas with a focus on the relationship between the environment and our health. PEPY Tours organizes volunteer and adventure travel in developing countries and redevelopment areas suffering from natural disasters. The Pepy Ride emphasizes education through action, where participants both learn from and give back to the communities they visit. (PRWEB) August 12, 2006 -- Pepy Ride, an adventure cycle tour and humanitarian aid organization, announces its upcoming August 2006 trip, in which two teams of volunteers will journey to Phnom Penh, raising money for The Pepy Ride Medical Center. The Pepy Ride Medical Center is located at the Cambodian Children’s Fund’s new orphanage and educational facility in Phnom Penh.
In December 2005, the first annual Pepy Ride brought six cyclists from around the world to Cambodia for five weeks to visit schools and orphanages and spread the Pepy message, "Protect the Earth. Protect Yourself." Riding from Siem Reap, through Phnom Penh and into Sihanoukville, stopping along the way to deliver school supplies, visit orphanages and teach classes on environmental awareness, the riders raised funds to support American Assistance for Cambodia, Japan Relief for Cambodia, and to build The Pepy Ride School. Since then, The Pepy Ride has raised over $100,000 for organizations supporting educational projects.
With the successful opening of The Pepy Ride School in 2005, over 80 volunteers from 14 countries have had the opportunity to visit the school and support educational and building projects. The next Pepy Ride School Volunteer Trip will run from December 23-30, 2006.
Pepy Tours, in association with The Pepy Ride, organizes several volunteer tours through Cambodia. The itineraries range from high intensity multi-week cycle trips to week-long volunteer projects focusing on a specific developing area. Each trip is designed not only to introduce participants to development work in Cambodia, but to provide an exciting, authentic experience of Cambodian culture and hospitality.
This summer’s trips are from August 6-13, 2006 and August 13-19, 2006 and include an optional extension trip to Siem Reap, home of the temples of Angkor Wat.
The second annual Pepy Ride will take place from December 27, 2006-January 18, 2007. To donate funds in support of this trip, please visit www.firstgiving.com/pepyride.
The Pepy Ride’s co-founder, Daniela Papi says, “Many people donate in support of development projects they will never visit, but with Pepy, you can go where your money goes. By joining one of our trips, you see first hand the difference you are making.”
