MCM Electronics Announces New Environmental Programs

MCM continues to lead the way in corporate responsibility with their latest shipping container re-use program aimed at protecting the environment.

Dayton, OH (PRWEB) July 15, 2010

MCM has long been a leader in the electronics industry, and now the company is leading the way in environmental responsibility with the launch of another planet-friendly program. The most recent program has the leading electronics supplier re-using shipping boxes instead of automatically shipping orders out in a new container. “While this program takes a little more effort on the part of the distribution center staff, it’s one that will have a significant impact”, said Tim Duffy, head of the MCM Distribution Center. “With thousands of shipments daily, anytime we can use a package that was previously shipped to us, we prevent a new box from being used and stop a used box from heading to the recycling center. This program will save thousands of boxes from being wasted, and that is something that will have a tremendously positive impact on the planet.”

Being “green” is nothing new to MCM. In fact, the company leads the industry with everything from employee-driven programs like vegetable gardens on company grounds, to critically important programs such as properly recycling obsolete electronic components. “Our corporate culture has always been one that assures environmental responsibility is of the utmost importance,” stated company President and GM Phil Minix. “Our programs are not only very diverse and far-reaching, but they are also embraced by our employees, and of course our parent company Premier Farnell Group, that is a global leader in this area.”

Other notable company environmentally-friendly programs include the use of Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper; environmentally-friendly soy ink used on the company’s catalogs; recycling programs at all corporate locations, which have cut waste by over 33% in the past twelve months; switching to “green” vendors for everything from bathroom supplies to office materials; the use of interactive flyers and catalogs which are now housed on the company website and reduced paper consumption significantly.
