It is constructed in the architectural style of Patagonia. The native stone and log construction gives cozy warmth to the rooms, the main lodge, the fly shop and the traditional Quincho. The Rio Dorado Lodge is now listed with AmericanFlyFishingVacations' website.
Junín de los Andes is strategically located right in the center of this "Fly Fishing Paradise". Within 20 miles of Junín are eight great rivers and streams and six magnificent lakes. The vast and spectacular National Park is also only a very short drive from Junin.
Accommodations: The main lodge is also constructed in the Patagonian style with plantation pine and native stone. The dining area is the central meeting place every morning for the "best Breakfast in Junín" which includes fresh fruit, homemade breads, jams and jellies, breakfast cereal, yogurt, farm fresh eggs as you like them and bacon. Every morning this is available to guests-complements of your hosts. Lunches and dinners can be arranged for guests by request and all meals are home cooked to order and include Argentine wine or beer if desired.
The Quincho is a special gathering place that is uniquely Argentine. In the great walk-in fireplace the traditional "Asado" is prepared. Once a week guests are treated to an "Asado" which features local specialties such as lamb, red stag, young goat or trout all grilled or barbecued in the great fire place. The fine wines of Argentina are a perfect complement to the feast and the relaxed pleasures of an "Asado".
Fishing: Fly fishermen sometimes dream about catching big trout on idyllic rivers in total solitude, surrounded by the grandeur of nature, reserved for them alone. This is still possible here in Patagonia in the vast fishing area where one can fish from sun up to sun down and not see another fisherman.
Many fly fishermen consider Patagonia to be the finest fly fishing in the world. Home of the legendary Malleo, Caleufu, Chimehuin, Alumine, Collon Cura and Limay rivers and the magnificent Huechulafquen, Paimun, Lolog and Curruhue Lakes, this area can only be described as "Fly Fishing Paradise". These rivers, streams, and lakes contain great rainbows, browns, brookies, and land locked salmon. Fish of 5 to 10 pounds are not uncommon and fish over ten pounds are often hooked. All the lakes and rivers are crystal clear and afford thousands of miles for wading and fishing.
