Gangster at the Age of Eight -- Shocking or Ordinary?

Entertaining hood stories of what’s ordinary in black children’s lives?

(PRWEB) September 5, 2006 -- After his brilliant debut "Home of the Body Bags," Terrell C. Wright, original gangster of the Rollin 20 Neighborhood Bloods and inmate of the California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, goes back to the early years of his life in his new book "Revelations of an Ordinary Childhood." It is about a life of a black child in the explosive neighborhood of South Los Angeles (South Central) around the mid 1970’s, a life of fears, doubts and hopes, love and hate for the people he deals with; and about their struggles and failures in dealing with him. Without an explicit moral or message, Terrell C. Wright exposes his daily struggles in a way that reminds of a modern Huckleberry Finn. He manages to fill terms like ‘Single Parent Household’, ‘Fatherless Childhood’, ‘Absence of a Male Role Model’, ‘Domestic Violence’, ‘Search for Love and Attention’, and ‘Environmental Influences’ with real life pictures, which seem so far away from a normal childhood that one almost tend to question them.

Some people would call his adventures crazy, some unfortunate, but the sadness sets in with the reality of growing up in South Los Angeles, something that is ordinary for so many under similar circumstances. This book opens eyes not only to young wanna-bees, but also to their parents and teachers, as well as to those who never lived in the hood.

"Revelations of an Ordinary Childhood" is more than revealing.
