(PRWEB) September 6, 2006 -- The Literati Social Club will host its first annual Writers' Retreat, scheduled May 4-6, 2007, designed for writers interested in honing their craft, mingling with other neo writers and conversing with well-known authors who can guide them in building their craft.

"The Literati Social Club's Writers' Refuge, simply called, The Refuge, is a creative event for all who are interested in sharing in the warmth, creativity and support that artists bring to each other. We have a host of exciting activities meant to help writers open their creative center," says Pittershawn Palmer, Event Director. "

The retreat will provide a series of workshops and events in the serene, private backdrop of a literary haven in Pennsylvania's well known Pocono mountains. Attendees will be given the opportunity to meditate, learn, write and grow from the experiences of professionals.

Workshop instructors include authors L.A. Banks, award-winning multi-genre novelist of romance, women's fiction, paranormal, and crime suspense, including the Vampire Huntress series; Kalisha Buckhanon, Essence Bestselling author of Upstate and recipient of the Terry McMillian Young Author Award; Tee C. Andrew Jackson, executive director of Queens Library's Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center, will moderate the panel discussion, Surviving the Rejection of Your Dream.

Actor and author Mel Jackson (Soul Food and Deliver Us From Eva) will host the Saturday night activities. Jackson will lead a Q&A session; and a half-hour poetry performance with poets from Hottestpoets.com will grace the stage, and live music by R&B Funk Jazz group Perfect Vibe, with a Champagne Mimosa breakfast and day spa session to follow on Sunday.
