Aussie Short Film Elevates to Hollywood The West Coast premiere of the Australian short film eleVATE -- a Ben Shackleford film -- will be held at the 10th Annual Los Angeles International Short Film Festival (LA Shorts Fest) on Tuesday September 12 at the ArcLight Cinemas Hollywood. Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) September 6, 2006 -- Direct from its North American premiere at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, ‘eleVATE’ a dark psychological thriller, tells the story of an insecure loner who develops an unhealthy obsession with a voice activated elevator in his office building.
LA Shorts Fest which runs September 5-14 2006 is the largest short film festival in the world. Award-winning films are officially recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences and are eligible to receive Oscar nominations.
In the past, 23 films have received Oscar nominations with 7 winning the coveted Oscar statue. Award winners will receive total prizes valued at over $75,000 in the following categories: Best of the Fest, Best Foreign Film, Best Drama, Best Comedy, Best Animation, Best Documentary, Best Female Director, Best Commercial Spot, Special Jury Recognition, and Audience Favorite.
LA Shorts Fest is the second Oscar accredited film festival in a row that ‘eleVATE’ has been selected for following on from Rhode Island. The world premiere of ‘eleVATE’ was held at the Vienna Short Film Festival in July 2006, and the film was also recently named a Finalist at the “American Cannes” -- the Moondance International Film Festival. The Australian premiere of ‘eleVATE’ will be held in October 2006 at the Australian International Film Festival.
Starring Mandy Kane in the lead role of ‘Rowly’, alongside Sallyanne Ryan and Angela Scundi, ‘eleVATE’ is Directed by Ben Shackleford, Produced by Shelley Egan and Lisa Raciti and Executive Produced by Lisa Raciti. Writers are Shelley Egan, Ben Shackleford and Sallyanne Ryan.
A joint production between Crystal Screen Productions and LR Media, ‘eleVATE’ is Ben Shackleford’s first foray into film, having worked in the Australian television industry for the past eight years. The successful trio of Ben Shackleford, Shelley Egan and Lisa Raciti have already begun work on their next project -- a feature film scheduled to commence production in January 2007.
The West Coast premiere screening of ‘eleVATE’ will be held during the LA Shorts Fest at the ArcLight Cinemas -- 6360 W Sunset Blvd Hollywood,CA Tuesday September 12 @ 7:45pm (program #94, cinema 12). Tickets are available directly from the ArcLight Cinemas.
