The alliance between Freedomhealth and ChemistDirect will make it much easier for the majority of the 2.5 million men in the UK who suffer with erectile dysfunctionto access good quality medical and sexual health advice. The new online impotence treatment service is run by personnel who are visible UK registered doctors and pharmacists operating from regulated and authorised premises.

Dr Sean Cummings said “The days of people being fleeced by dodgy websites who supply overpriced and counterfeit medications are over. Men are drawn to use the internet to find erectile medications becasue they are embarrassed. That doesn’t mean they should receive a shoddy or dangerous service or product. With our new collaboration with the largest online pharmacy in the UK our patients will receive excellent, prompt and appropriate service with the same friendly efficiency as at our London clinic”.

Freedomhealth has an established reputation for innovation in the field of Sexual Health. Founded in 2003 by Dr Cummings and Lee Garrett, the clinic has grown exponentially since and has expanded the range of services year on year. Dr Cummings added “The key to a successful clinic is to focus on the patient with staff who love what they do. Our London clinic is a calm, safe environment for people with often embarrassing predicaments. We know that we can extend our classic “Freedomhealth feel good factor” into the online space and allow greater access to our patients”

How does the New Online Impotence Diagnosis and Treatment Clinic service work?

Accessing the service is very straightforward and can be done remotely via the web. A patient registers on the Online Impotence Diagnosis and Treatment Clinic site and completes a thorough questionnaire. The patient is then allowed to select a preferred medication option such as viagra, cialis or levitra and makes payment with a credit or debit card. The questionnaire is reviewed promptly by a Freedomhealth doctor and there may be further clarification needed. Additional advice may be provided by the doctor depending on the information supplied. If medication is prescribed it is sent out by first-class next day delivery and signed for mail. Repeat prescriptions are possible by making a further application.

The same service is available for patients who wish to talk to a doctor on the phone. This consultation is charged for but in essence works in the same way.

Erectile Dysfunction in the UK

Approximately 2.5 million men in the UK suffer from erectile dysfunction or “impotence” as it used to be called, according to the Sexual Dysfunction Association. 20% of men felt so embarrassed that they allowed their relationships to break up because of it. 90% of men do not discuss the issue with their GP and a staggering 60% don’t discuss it with their sexual partner either. Data from the USA suggests that around 5% of men between the ages of 40 to 49 years have severe and disabling erectile dysfunction and approximately 17% of this age group have moderately severe problems.

Erectile dysfunction is twice as high amongst smokers as non-smokers and patients should be advised of this when they are consulting about erectile dysfunction issues. In addition and very interestingly, more than two thirds of patients who develop coronary (heart) symptoms related to atherosclerosis (clogging of the arteries) will have had symptoms and signs of erectile dysfunction prior to the onset of heart symptoms.
