Hollywood,CA (PRWEB) September 6, 2006 -- The beguiling Jazz songstress Carmen Lundy recently nominated Vocalist of The Year by JazzWeek, the leading radio industry publication, will be touching down one night only for a special event at the Ford Amphitheatre. The concert, an Afrasia Production, is entitled, “Jazz and the New Songbook Artists, Starring Carmen Lundy.” The highly acclaimed musicians kick off their world tour at the Ford Amphitheatre featuring new and original compositions never performed anywhere. The performance takes place on Sunday, September 10th at 7:00 PM in Los Angeles, California, at the historic Ford Amphitheatre nestled in the Hollywood Hills.

Joining Lundy in this all-star presentation will be: Robert Glasper, Anthony Wonsey – piano; Marvin “Smitty” Smith, Terri Lyne Carrington – drums; Mayra Casales – percussion; Curtis Lundy, Bob Hurst – bass; Sekou Bunch – electric bass, Sekou, in addition, will star in this season's television show "Survivor" beginning September 14, 2006 on CBS; Steve Turre - trombone, shells; Bobby Watson – alto; Greg Diaz – trumpet; Regina Carter – violin; Lori Andrews – harp; Phil Upchurch – guitar; Krystal Davis Williams – background vocals.

Lundy’s latest release, “Jazz and The New Songbook-Live at The Madrid,” is her first live recording, an Afrasia Production,and features 16 musicians including Robert Glasper, Nathan East, Phil Upchurch, Steve Turre, Bobby Watson, Curtis Lundy, Marvin "Smitty" Smith, Victor Lewis, Mayra Casales and Kenny Davis. She has performed and recorded as a soloist with the Akron Symphony Orchestra and The Vallejo Symphony Orchestra. She has performed and recorded with fellow musicians including: Walter Bishop Jr., Wynton Marsalis, Ray Barretto, Don Pullen, Kenny Barron, John Hicks, Ernie Watts, Mulgrew Miller, Billy Childs, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jimmy Scott, Kip Hanrahan, Courtney Pine, Marian McPartland, Regina Carter, and the late Kenny Kirkland.

Lundy is also a composer and songwriter whose catalogue numbers about forty published songs. Ford Amphitheatre 2006

The intimate 1,200-seat Ford Amphitheatre is a favorite among music lovers. The Ford, nestled in the Hollywood Hills, is just off the 101 (Hollywood Freeway) across from Hollywood Bowl and south of Universal Studios at 2580 Cahuenga Blvd. East. Picnickers welcome, food and beverage available on site. Grounds open two hours before show time for picnicking.

The Ford is disabled accessible and portable wireless listening devices are available upon request. On-site, stacked parking costs $5 per vehicle. Free satellite parking serviced by free shuttles to the Ford is available at the Universal City Metro Station lot at Lankershim Blvd. and Campo de Cahuenga. The Ford shuttle stops in the "kiss and ride" area and cycles every 15-20 minutes.
