(PRWEB) September 11, 2006 -- Parents who are relocating to the Orlando area have a new resource at their disposal when it comes to deciding their children’s educational choices.
Clements Publishing Company and the Orlando Sentinel worked together to publish the second edition of the Central Florida Education Guide, which is currently being distributed to area real estate relocation professionals, libraries, chambers of commerce, public schools and private schools in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Volusia counties. This year’s Guide comes with a number of improvements, including each public school’s state letter grade and the addition of Volusia County to the publication.
“We’re excited about our alliance with the Orlando Sentinel and are pleased to provide Central Florida parents with a tool such as the Central Florida Education Guide,” said Mike Clements, president of Clements Publishing Company, publisher of the Guide. “We worked hard this year to enhance the editorial content and make it more relevant to today’s families, as well as re-design the Guide to make it more eye-catching for the reader.”
The Guide provides real estate relocation professionals a resource that helps them answer the No. 1 question parents ask when moving to a new area: ‘How are the local schools?’ and ‘What choices do I have for my kids in terms of education?’
“The Central Florida Education Guide provides a comprehensive look at public school districts in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Volusia counties and includes such indicators as dropout rates, graduation rates and school district annual budgets,” said Derek Berge, Orlando Sentinel classified advertising sales manager. The Orlando Sentinel coordinated advertising sales for the publication and supported its distribution. “The Central Florida Education Guide gives our readers a tool they can use to make informed decisions about public and private education.”
The Guide includes lists of area private schools and details the diverse programs they offer in each county. Another section of the Guide includes listings of public libraries, post-secondary schools, and colleges and universities.
The Guide also helps parents understand how schools are graded by the Florida Dept. of Education and explains various standardized tests, such as the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.
“We pay great attention to the details involved with the FCAT in order to provide parents with a user-friendly format where they can review FCAT scores,” Clements said. “Each year, we receive numerous comments from thankful readers who tell us, ‘Now FCAT makes sense’.”
