Branson Critic Awards -- Controversial, Fan-based Awards Sponsored by the Titanic Museum

Controversy surrounds this year's 2006 Branson Critic Awards. Many shows in the ‘live entertainment capital of the world’ have resisted the fans choosing who they want to win, even though this is Branson Critic’s third year of presenting the awards based on the choice of the fans. A number of shows still disagree with this process and have rejected its premise. However, the credibility of the Titanic Museum’s sponsorship may change all of that.

Branson, MO (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- The 2006 Branson Critic Awards will be announced October 1st, 2006 on Branson Critic. The awards are presented by Branson Critic Online Magazine (http://www.bransoncritic.com) and sponsored by the Titanic Museum. This is the Branson Critic Awards third year honoring the best performers and shows in Branson, Missouri known as “the live entertainment capital of the world”.

The Titanic is a beautiful museum that has taken Branson by storm and is sole sponsor for the 2006 Branson Critic Awards. The Chambermaid of the Titanic Museum will be part of the awards presentation. Voting by the fans of the shows will end September 30 at 11:59 p.m. EST. More details for the awards presentations will be announced on Branson Critic.

The seven categories for this year's awards are: Best Show, Best Performer, Best Comedian, Best Band, Best Singer, Best Musician, and Best Morning Show plus special Editor’s Choice Awards.

Past winners include Darren Romeo, the illusionist protégé of Siegfried and Roy, Elvis Tribute Artist Tony Roi and comedian Terry Wayne Sanders who are all are nominated this year as well.

Some show leagues in Branson have criticized the awards for being fan-based and have pressured some of the shows not to accept the awards. Last year, one show that was to receive an award declined as the league they belonged to told them “not to accept.” It seems some in the Branson, Missouri entertainment business don’t believe fans have a right to vote for the shows and performers that they love.

Branson Critic Magazine is a volunteer organization of writers and researchers for shows and “everything Branson” and has accumulated over 2,000 reviews. Branson Critic also has a forum where fans of Branson shows discuss, debate and vote for the Branson Critic Awards.

The awards are on a points-based system, starting with large reviews and pictures with fewer points for small reviews. The polls play a part in the voting process and editors compile and analyze the data.

Although the winners will be announced on Branson Critic on October 1st, 2006, the awards will actually be presented by the Titanic Museum and Branson Critic at the theatres of the shows that won during their show intermissions. Check Branson Critic (http://www.bransoncritic.com) for dates of the presentations.
