Celebrity Charity Event Held on Desperate Housewives' Wisteria Lane Raises Nearly $1,000,000

Celebrities come out to Support Padres Contra El Cancer, a charity focused on helping Hispanic Children with Cancer.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Padres Contra El Cancer held its annual fundraising gala, chaired by Eva Longoria, on September 6 on the set of Desperate Housewives’ Wisteria Lane, raising almost $1,000,000. Padres Contra El Cancer is a non-profit organization that works to improve the lives of Latino children with cancer. Fundraising highlights included the live auction of a date with Eva Longoria that was purchased for $100,000 by the President of Bebe. Gavin Keilly, President of GBK Productions, made a donation of $10,000 to help the organization exceed its fundraising goal.

“I was so touched by the work of Padres Contra El Cancer that I felt helping them on a professional level wasn’t enough. I wanted to be personally involved in the fundraising efforts,” said Keilly.

The gala gave more than 700 guests the unique opportunity to dine on the set of Desperate Housewives and see the homes that make up the mythical Wisteria Lane. Billy Bush served as Master of Ceremonies and celebrities on the host committee included Marcia Cross, Felicity Huffman, Jamie Foxx, Tony Parker, Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, Ryan Seacrest, Oscar de la Hoya and Mario Lopez. Everyone in attendance raved about the decor and the food. One attendee said, "It was the best charity event I attended in years.".
