Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006 -- Gaywheels.com, the only website dedicated to the GLBT automotive consumer, expands with a new section to highlight the diversity that exists within the auto industry. In addition to the site’s extensive automotive data, new-car reviews and feature articles, Gaywheels.com now includes a section called HEADLIGHTS that profiles openly gay automotive professionals.
HEADLIGHTS will feature GLBT employees from a variety of companies in the automotive industry, and aims to include a wide range of professionals -- from dealership salespeople to corporate executives. “By being out, and working on Gaywheels.com, I’ve met more gay automotive professionals than I ever thought existed,” said Joe LaMuraglia, publisher of Gaywheels.com. “At the end of the day, we are just like everyone else -- we love cars, we love the industry, we just happen to be gay. I want to let everyone know that it is possible to be out and successful in the auto industry.”
Each individual profiled on HEADLIGHTS will answer questions about being gay in the auto industry, give opinions about their favorite cars, and give some words of advice to gay people seeking to enter the industry. “By featuring out GLBT professionals, we hope to inspire current GLBT automotive employees to be more comfortable in the corporate environment, as well as inspiring young gay people who want to get involved with the industry,” LaMuraglia explained. “My decision to leave the corporate world was based on a lot of soul-searching about what my core needs are. I realized that if you can satisfy your core needs with your chosen profession, you are happy. One of my core needs is to inspire people.”
HEADLIGHTS is just the latest enhancement in a series of constant improvements on the fast-growing Gaywheels.com website. “As a former employee of Toyota and a student of lean production techniques, I like to think we practice ‘kaizen’ when it comes to Gaywheels.com,” comments LaMuraglia. “The site is never complete and we are always looking for ways to improve.” Future additions to the site will include additional functionality and aesthetic improvements.
Gaywheels.com is dedicated to promoting responsible consumerism and affecting change by encouraging car shoppers to patronize gay-friendly companies throughout the vehicle purchase process. Users of the site are able to investigate which automakers and other automotive companies offer domestic partner benefits to their employees, thus qualifying them as “gay-friendly.” With that information at hand, they can make educated choices during the car-buying process. Gaywheels.com launched in June 2005 as the consummate gay-friendly automotive resource.
