The surgery, which takes only a few minutes, can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Within one day, the patient can return to their normal activities-without the aid of corrective lenses.

One patient whose vision went form 20/40 to 20/15 after the LASIK procedure told her story in Entertainer magazine: "It marked the beginning of my new life-I would no longer miss a sunset or the delicate details of a flower because I failed to have my contacts in."
