(PRWEB) September 15, 2006 -- Eyes Of The Poet Radio, an Internet-based radio station, is taking new audio poetry submissions for broadcast on the station. Currently, the station airs poetry readings from such notables as Billy Collins, Robert Frost, E.E. Cummings, Pablo Neruda, Coleman Barks reading Rumi, as well as many other talented audio poets.
“The original concept behind the station was to allow just about anyone to have their audio poetry aired,” says Brian Douthit, owner and manager of Eyes Of The Poet Radio. “As it turns out, we receive very few submissions from non-professional poets. Most of the ‘creative audio’ submissions received are from people reading poems from a book they have authored, or from those who have a CD for sale.” Douthit prefers the term “creative audio” over “audio poetry” because some of the more modern versions of audio poetry are recorded in a very imaginative and artistic manner.
In addition to broadcasting the creative audio, the station also airs brief insights and interviews from famous authors such as David Deida, Deepak Chopra, and Eckhart Tolle, to name a few. The insights, interviews, and creative audio are played with Ambient, New Age, Electronic, and World music genres. These genres have been chosen because they are mostly the peaceful and serene variety, and tend to enhance the experience of listening to poetry without overpowering it.
According to Douthit, the station has received strong support from musicians and bands. “I receive anywhere from three to ten music submissions per week from independents seeking air time.” The station also receives submissions from PR firms such as WorldSound Productions and record labels such as Unicorn1 Records. WorldSound Productions has provided Eyes Of The Poet Radio with music by Steve Jolliffe (formerly of Tangerine Dream), Laurie Z., and Rob Papen (formerly of Nova). Independent submissions have been received by notables such as Sandy and Michael Bashaw’s “Music From The Documentary Dayton Codebreakers” as seen on PBS. In addition to playing new music submissions, Eyes Of The Poet Radio also plays music from many of the favorites like Yanni, Kitaro, David Lanz, Enya, and Enigma.
New audio poetry submissions to the station should be of good quality and in an mp3 or wav format. Rap-style recordings or any anti-humanity material will not be aired. “There are plenty of outlets for more intense audio. I’m interested in broadcasting a more encouraging and friendly type of poetry,” says Douthit. Information about how to submit audio recordings can be found on the Eyes Of The Poet Radio page at: http://www.perfectlysaid.com/radio.html under the “about” section. There is no cost involved in submitting content or listening to the station.
