First Book Created by Global Collaboration of Over 1,000 People Using Amazon’s Mturk An emerging project, YRUHRN, is creating the first book designed, written, edited, marketed, and published using the wisdom of crowds involving over 1,000 people. YRUHRN is based on hundreds of people answering the question, “Why Are You Here – Right Now” via the Amazon service, Mechanical Turk. Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) September 17, 2006 -- How would you answer this question: Why Are You Here – Right Now? We asked that question to over 1,000 random people. The answers are leading to a book created by hundreds of people around the world working together using their unique talents.
In a world where we all have similar life experiences we are also all unique individuals. With this one question, and the answers from hundreds of people so far, we hope to create a catalyst for caring and connection about the unique talents of all of us.
We all have a choice to create, destroy, or just observe. Our group chooses to create, share, and connect. Do you have a story to contribute? We bet you do… come and join us at http://www.yruhrn.com.
Imagine you are walking down a crowded street as you start your journey. You drop a penny and as it rolls down the sidewalk - you follow it. You realize that you can hear the innermost thoughts of the crowd around you. You question them, “Why Are You Here – Right Now? You start to hear the answers. Yes, think about that big global city and all those voices, as we follow that first penny that started this project through that city, along the way the voices get louder. At the end of the journey, we follow that penny to a global pond, reflecting and watching as the ripples radiate outwards. Those ripples symbolize our impact on all those who read this book and learn about our project. It allows creative people to be heard. It turns our book into far more than just random entries. It gives us a voice, and the world a voice to share together.
They could be voices of the mothers, the voice of fathers, the voices of students, or of business people, voices of the children, and voices of the crazy guy that stands on the corner every day.
YRUHRN is an emerging story and hundreds of people are writing it. The project is being run primarily by stay-at-home-moms using their unique talents and expertise working from home. One-third of profits will be donated to the kids of Katrina during the holiday season.
YRUHRN emerges with an open source business model. The making of YRUHRN is public and uses a variety of tools to connect our global crowd including Amazon’s MTurk, YouTube, Flickr, Digg, Prosper, and other web services. YRUHRN leverages the emerging creative platform to create remarkable stories using the wisdom of crowds and the power of connectors. While hundreds of books compete in the red ocean of books written by one person, we venture forth into a blue ocean of a book written by a thousand people.
If you want to contribute your answer, or join the project as an entrepreneurial team member, volunteer for a few hours, or just watch and observe the project, you can find us in a number of places. Just search for YRUHRN and follow the breadcrumbs.
