NAMWOLF Lauds SEMATECH-Led Study Seeking to Bolster Utilization of Minority-Owned Suppliers and Promoting Supplier Diversity

The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) lauds SEMATECH for directing a study seeking to promote the utilization of diverse suppliers in the semiconductor industry.

Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) September 20, 2006 -- The National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF) lauds SEMATECH for directing a study seeking to promote the utilization of diverse suppliers in the semiconductor industry.

Because the semiconductor industry’s global reach and customer diversity are growing, it is necessary for microchip companies in the industry to increase the utilization of minority-owned suppliers, asserted Steve McGovern, SEMATECH’s Supplier Relations Action Committee (SRAC) member, and SEMATECH procurement representative.

“As advocators for the utilization of minority and women-owned businesses it is exciting to see SEMETECH’s diversity efforts at work,” said Yolanda Coly, Associate Director of NAMWOLF. “The information gained from the study will surely provide the semiconductor industry and minority-owned suppliers valuable insight on how to form mutually beneficial working relationships in the future.”

The Asaba Group, a strategy consulting firm targeting under-served business situations, conducted the study. The study, published by SRAC, is presented in detail by SRAC’s Supplier Diversity Committee at http://www.sematech.org/docs/SRAC_study0406.pdf .

SEMATECH is the world's catalyst for accelerating the commercialization of technology innovations into manufacturing solutions. By setting global direction, creating opportunities for flexible collaboration, and conducting strategic R&D, SEMATECH delivers significant return on investment to our semiconductor and emerging technology partners.
