Kutta Unveils Unified Ground Control Station for UAVs at 2006 AUVSI Conference

Kutta’s light-weight (10 lbs) Unified Ground Control Station provides soldiers the ability to gather over-the-hill intelligence in the palm of their hand. The UGCS contains a platform independent graphical user interface that runs efficiently on a PDA, a rugged tablet PC, or rugged laptop and takes an untrained operator less than one hour to learn how to use.

(PRWEB) September 20, 2006 -- Kutta has created an innovative STANAG 4586 compliant Unified Ground Control Station (UGCS™) for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The application was initially developed under Phase I and Phase II Small Business Innovative Research Grants sponsored by the Army’s Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD).

Kutta’s UGCS contains a unified GUI and a platform abstraction that allows the software application to run on Windows CE, Windows XP, and Linux. The application offers features such as 2D and 3D flight planning, real-time auto-routing, autonomous point and follows modes, real-time MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 video storage, and the ability to control a gimbaled camera. The system intelligently monitors vital UAV and GCS systems and informs the user when parameters exceed defined limits. The GUI flows seamlessly from a rugged PDA interface to a rugged tablet PC, or a rugged laptop.

“It is so easy to learn how to use that we can train a user on all the features in less than one hour,” says Doug Limbaugh, CEO of Kutta. “Soldiers really like the easy-to-use interface and rave about the light-weight 10 lb. system. We had a very strong show at AUVSI this year. It was the first time the civilian marketplace really got to see what the Army and Kutta have been excited about for a long time,” added Matt Savoca, President of Kutta.
