Symmetricom Announces New Vice President of Engineering of Telecom Solutions Division James Armstrong brings extensive technical experience to support evolving synchronization and timing requirements for next-generation networks. (NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader in precise time and frequency products and services, today announced James Armstrong has been named vice president of engineering of the company’s Telecom Solutions Division. James joins Symmetricom with 12 years of experience developing products for the telephone and cable industries. Most recently, he was president of Movidis, Inc., a privately held company that develops high-performance networking equipment for OEM and enterprise markets.

In his new role, James is responsible for defining and executing the mission, strategy and objectives for the technology organization with a rigorous quality assurance (QA) process. He will lead a multidisciplinary team of electronic hardware, embedded software and QA engineers providing both strategic and tactical contributions to the company.
From 1998-2002, James served as vice president of software development at DIVA Systems, a provider of interactive, on-demand television products and services, leading new technology development for video servers, QAM products and content distribution systems. Prior to that, he was manager of software and advanced development at Sarnoff Corporation, product developer for electronic, biomedical and information technology markets, managing the software development of three generations of video-on-demand servers that were deployed to several major U.S. cable companies. He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University.
