Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 18, 2010

The goal of the California Family Health Council’s Condom Cover Art Contest is to heighten teens’ awareness of STD and Pregnancy Prevention through creative art. This year’s contest was underwritten in part by Ansell Corporation, the maker of the Lifestyles Condom.

The contest ran from April to July 2010, giving teens and young adults the opportunity to promote responsible sexual choices and educate their peers. Over 300 incredible condom cover designs were submitted by youth under the age of 25 from across California. Six winning designs were selected by online voters at TeenSource.org. Each winner will be awarded a $500 prize at a reception held at 2 pm August 26th, 2010 at the California Endowment, 1000 Alameda in Los Angeles where the artwork will be unveiled.

The talented young artists whose work was chosen include: Robert Flores of South Gate, Daniel Herrera of Los Angeles, Erin Malcolm of Visalia, Eugenia Sangiovanni of Los Angeles, Genel Sison of Fremont, and Patrick Tormey of Sherman Oaks.

Thousands of condom packets with the winners’ cover art and teen health messages will be distributed throughout the year to family planning clinics, STD clinics, high schools, colleges, juvenile detention facilities and other community-based health agencies across California. Condoms and condom instructions will be included in each condom packet, in both English and Spanish along with facts about STD.
