(PRWEB) September 23, 2006

A dazzling array of Melbourne's hottest performance talent is to perform an ever-changing array of bite-sized original theatre, movement and comedy in private-viewing tents at the upcoming 2006 Melbourne Fringe Festival.

From the fascinating to the fascinatingly ordinary, interior theatre's 'Penny Machinations' performance arcade stands ready to amaze and captivate for just $2 a piece.

"Whether you've come into the Festival Club for a drink or are waiting to go into a show, swap your small change for some tokens and take a punt on a piece," says performer and interior theatre member Sharni Page.

"With twice the number of nights as last year, twice the number of pieces and twice the stress wrinkles on our face, we are proud as punch to bring back the performance arcade that makes our toes tingle and our smiles widen by inches," said Miss Page.

Some of Melbourne's best performers can be seen up-close and personal in either brand-spanking new pieces, or cherished old favourites including: Bron Batten, Vanessa Bennett, Belle Bortoni, Richard Higgins, Guy Kable, Margie Locke, Sharni Page, Michael Parry, Wes Snelling and Alia Vryens.

Scared? Don't be. Intrigued? Buy a token from any spruiker and step right up to try them all, try them twice - according to interior theatre, no two shows are exactly the same.

'Penny Machinations' performance arcade is open for business every Friday and Saturday night of the Festival. Come whenever you like (although earlier is better), buy as many tickets as you like, pick the pieces you want to see and off you go.

"Don't book - just come with your pockets full of gold and your mind itching for novelty," said Miss Page.

About interior theatre

Interior Theatre was formed by Telia Nevile and Matt Kelly in 2004, and premiered with Penny Machinations, a pay-per-view private-viewing arcade of performance experiments, as part of La Mama's 2004 Explorations Season. Having received critical and audience acclaim, Interior Theatre remounted Penny Machinations during the 2005 Melbourne Fringe with all new content, and was awarded 'Outstanding Special Event 2005' for its sell-out season in the Fringe Club.

"The confrontation with actors in an unknown setting created a wonderful thrill of fear. 'Penny Machinations' turned out to be a fertile and highly entertaining experience."
